The Harrisonville varsity track/field team had a indoor meet at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg on Monday, March 19.
Hannah Gibbs, Senior, takes part in the 60 meter dash and the 4×400 meter relay. This was her first time running the 60 meter dash, but she has been apart of the 4×400 team for several years.
Gibbs put a lot of effort into practice so she would be prepare.
“We ran a lot of 300 and 400 meter sprints in practice,” said Gibbs.
Hannah Gibbs and Bailey Kliewer, junior, were looking forward to the meet.
“I was nervous going into the meet because I had never ran a 60 meter dash, and I had never run at an indoor meet before,” said Gibbs.
“I felt really nervous because it was the first meet,” said Kliewer.
Kliewer the event that she participates in is the shot put. She practiced a lot the week before the meet to make sure things were right.
“We worked on trying to get the correct technique during practice,” said Kliewer.
Even though neither girls didn’t quite do their best there were some good that came out from the meet.
“Our 4×4 did better than expected with two new members,” said Gibbs.
On Thursday, March 29, the varsity track and field team have an invitational at Smithville High School at 4 p.m.
