Blessed Dress

In past years, Harrisonville High School has participated in, or hosted, events that are angled towards young women who may not be financially stable enough to purchase a dress for prom.

This year, Harrisonville High school will be taking a group of girls up to Central United Methodist Church to attend Blessed Dress. Blessed Dress is open March 16 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and March 17 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

During these time periods girls will be able to try on and choose all the prom essentials: dress, shoes, purses/clutches, and jewelry. Girls will be able to take home the items they desire for free.

HHS secretary, Cheryl Osborn, who was involved in helping plan this event said, “The goal of Blessed Dress is to empower young women one dress at a time, reminding each one that she is beautiful and worthy and loved.”

In past years, Harrisonville has hosted their own “Blessed Dress” or have gone to one located more locally. This is Harrisonville’s first year attending Blessed Dress’ event.

“High school girls from all over the greater Kansas City area attend this event each year,” Osborn said.
