Ed Sheeran’s new album titled “÷” (Divide) was released on March 3 after a lengthy sabbatical.
In Dec. 2015, Sheeran announced his break from music and social media. After a year without new music, Sheeran made his return on Jan. 6, 2017.
On January 6, he released two new singles, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”
“Shape of You” is a funky song with a rhythm that makes you want to dance. It has held the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100’s Chart for about five weeks.
“Castle on the Hill” reminisces about childhood and suggests Sheeran’s desire to go back to where he grew up. It placed a spot on the Billboard Hot 100’s Chart as well.
The third single, titled “How Would You Feel,” was released on Feb. 17. It’s a slower song that tells a story about finding ‘the one’ and falling in love. It is also climbing its way up the charts.
The album has 13 other songs with a wide variety of sounds and subjects.
Divide will be Sheeran’s third studio album after Plus and Multiply. Both albums had tremendous success. Plus ranked No.5 on Billboard 200, and Multiply ranked No.1.
If Divide follows the trend of the previous albums, it should be a very successful release for Sheeran.
